Indigenizing curriculum - Supporting the Local in Local Curriculum

Description

This course is designed to support educators to re-imagine a curriculum that connects the classroom to culture. Participants will use their own work as a base to build from that will give effect to local knowledge, school aspirations, and iwi participation. This workshop will be interactive and will have examples from a Ngāti Toa perspective. Topics covered in this session decolonization, place-based philosophy, community and mana whenua engagement, learning environments.  

How is this session delivered?

This is an in-person workshop where Schools recognize and value the role of mana whenua in local curriculum design.  Participants will leave with increased confidence to include expertise across the community, whānau, hapū, iwi and increased intent to review current curriculum - review and re-design Success criteria

Cancellations 

Enrollment in a course is conditional upon and subject to sufficient numbers enrolling in the course.  Should our registration minimum not be met, course day will be cancelled and notification will be provided.
